The A Journey on the Manx Electric Railway Blu-Ray and DVD runs approximately 78 minutes and covers the whole of the route from Douglas to Ramsey. You can enjoy the action and view from our five on-board cameras which show you eveything there is to see, from cab action to the spectacular Manx scenery. The commentary keeps you up to date with where you are and explains the history of the line. Or if you prefer just to listen to the hypnotic sound of the tram then it's simple to turn the commentary off.

The Manx Electric Railway is a Victorian Tram system which runs up the Isle of Man's east coast from the capital Douglas to the northern port of Ramsey. Completed in 1899, the 17 mile long system gives access to some of the finest views the island has to offer. The cars are supplied with power from overhead cables which supply 550 volts, and the journey is a step back in time to a period when life was gentle.

From Douglas we head north out of the town, quickly climbing from close to sea level at the end of the promenade to scale the cliffs which drop down to meet the Irish Sea. First stop is Groudle Glen, a popular Victorian destination, where tourists can still ride on the Groudle Glen steam railway. From there we continue through small villages and past charming stations consisting of small green-painted huts to reach the historic seaside village of Laxey. Here we intersect with the Snaefell Mountain Railway and catsh a glimpse of the Lady Isabella, the world-famous Laxey wheel, before making the long climb out towards Ramsey. Just before we reach our destination, we switch to single line operation for the final section into the town.

Our Isle of Man Railway series is unique. With no less than five High Definition cameras to show the action, you'll get a better view than the driver!

There are two soundtracks to choose from. The commentary track gives you everything - the wonderful sound of the locomotive accompanied by informative, knowledgable commentary to explain what you're seeing -and provides the historical background of the Isle of Man Steam Railway. But if you'd rather just immerse yourself in the enthralling pictures and the sound of a steam engine, turn off the commentary and you're good to go. Now available on DVD or Blu-Ray!

free bonus extras

We want to give you the best value we can, so we've come up with two fantastic bonus extras for your added enjoyment.

The first is a specially made unique 20 minute programme which shows the Isle of Man's three Victorian transport systems - the Steam Railway, the Manx Electric Railway, and the Snaefell Mountain Railway. This beautifully shot and produced programme also takes you behind the scenes at the Steam Railway's Douglas depot to see the work that goes on to keep the rolling stock in pristine condition. And if you've ever dreamed of being an engine driver, there's even a pocket course to set you up for a trip on the footplate. This added extra is in Standard Definition.

And if that's still not enough, we've re-interpreted the famous 1952 BBC film of London to Brighton in four minutes to bring you Douglas to Ramsey in four minutes, viewed from the prime spot on the front of Car no. 20. It's the perfect way to round off this exclusive viewing experience.
